Videocon Telecom has said that they would offer ultrafast
4G mobile internet services at existing 2G and 3G rates.
Director and Chief Executive Officer of
Videocon Telecom, Arvind Bali said on sidelines of the LTE India event, that they
would be offering 4G at 2G, 3G rates. Currently the company has been granted to
operate in 7 service areas but it has operations in just 4 circles. Videocon
Telecom has plans to launch 4G services by the end of present fiscal. Bali said
that it would take them about 3 to 4 months to install technology from the date
they placed purchase order. It would begin its new service from ten cities primarily
by end of this financial year and would expand as the business develops.
Earlier, the company had said that it
will follow scheme to keep prices of telecom services 20 to 25 % lower than
competition. Bali said that normally a 2G network offers speeds up to 64-144 kbps
and a 3G Network offers speeds up to 144 kbps to 2 mbps, whereas on 4G network user
can get 5 to 50 times the 3G speeds in practical depending upon the available
spectrum.
Bali said that 4G network comes with a
benefit of low cost per bit in comparison to 2G and 3G networks. The benefit of
the 4G service will be the fact that users could download the same amount of information
in much lesser time and henceforth allowing us to have room for more data
download on our system.
The President of Reliance Jio
Infocomm, Sumit D Chowdhury, talking about 4G services at the event, released
his book ‘Rules of the Game’ and said that 4G service providers will need to
look at new approach of handling networks, particularly for the
machine-to-machine (M2M) communication in the coming days . He said that they
are required to think in a different way when they will have machines also
connected on network. He said we will have man talking to machines and machines
talking to machines through telecom networks in future where operators will need
to discover techniques to manage or bill them. He also said that M2M
connectivity will become prevailing technology in the country in the coming 2
to 3 years.
Associate Director General of Industry
body COAI, Vikram Tiwathia said that when M2M technology will come to the nation,
then the government would need to revisit some of the rules particularly the present
restriction of 10 SIMs that could be sold to a subscriber in a service area.
