How good your grip is when you shake
hands with someone is the most crucial tool to predict your actual age.
As per recent research, the strength
of a person's grip may also be one of the most useful ways to measure speed of
aging.
Warren Sanderson who is from the
International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Vienna, Austria
has explained that the strength of a hand grip of an individual is easily
measured and the data can now be found in many of the most important surveys on
aging worldwide.
Researchers of IIASA, Warren Sanderson
and Serguei Scherbov has indicated that the grip of a hand relates to different
signs of aging such as an individual’s future mortality, physical challenges,
cognitive decline and capability to recuperate from hospital.
Sanderson and Scherbov for their
research has studied result from more than 50 published studies that concentrate
on the people of all ages around the globe.
They have found in their study that a
65 year old white woman who had not finished secondary education has the same potency
in hand grip as that of a 69 year old white woman who had finished secondary
education.
This implies that as per the potency
of hand grip characteristic, their ages are equal and 65 year old women ages
four years sooner because of lower education accomplishment, Scherbov noted.
This study work has already been
published in Journal PLOS ONE.
Specialists
can recognize the differences in the process of ageing between varieties of population
groups that may not usually get evident, by using a physical test like hand grip.
