The
decisions regarding the finalization of venues for IPL 2014 still remains
undecided. The Board of Control for Cricketing in India (BCCI) has decided on
Friday to wait till the dates of the general elections are declared. Some part of the matches in the twenty20 mega
event will also be held abroad for security reasons.
The working committee of the BCCI met in Bhubaneswar
yesterday to discuss the matter day after the Home Minister made it clear that due to elections coming in
April – May 2014 it would not be able to provide security for the twenty20 mega
event. The IPL scheduled from April 9 to June 3 are set to clash with the
elections.
After the meeting in Bhubaneswar the president of BCCI N Srinivasan said
that final decision on venues of IPL 2014 will be taken only after they get the
schedule of the general elections. He also said that part of the match would be
played abroad if necessary. The chairman of IPL Ranjib Biswal has informed the
reporters that Bangladesh, South Africa and UAE are interested to host the
matches.
