The
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced today that the
Indian Premier League (IPL) will be co-hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
and India. Bangladesh has been kept in a stand by option by the board.
This
move has been taken because of the upcoming general election that is scheduled
to be held during the period of April to May.
A
statement from the BCCI said that UAE will be hosting sixteen matches. These
sixteen matches are scheduled from 16th April to 30th
April. The statement also said that if for any reasons the matches in India
could not be played during the general election period on May, then they would
be shifted in Bangladesh.
Again
from 13th May, the remaining matches would be played in India. These
matches also includes the play offs and the final match which is scheduled on 1st
June.
