The Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif
has called for a meeting of senior officers today to discuss the attack on Hamid
Mir. Hamid Mir is the executive editor of Pakistani television channel Geo News
and a senior journalist.
Mir was injured in an attack by gunmen in
Karachi that took place yesterday. The attack took place while he was on his
way to his office from the airport. In this attack four gunmen riding on two
motorcycles opened fire on Mir's car yesterday.
Two bullets entered into Mir’s body. He was
taken to the hospital immediately in unconscious state. The doctors have said
that Mir is now out of danger.
The government of Pakistan has been asked to
provide security to the journalists since this type of attack also happen
earlier. Three eyewitness of the attack have helped the police to make the
sketches of the muggers. To probe into the case of attack, an investigation
committee has also been formed.
Sharjeel Memon, who is the Sindh Information Minister,
has announced an award of Rs.50 million from the provincial government to those
Pakistani who would help the police in getting hold of the attackers.

condemned the attack and expressed regret at the occurrence. Several condemnation
messages are circulating on social media websites. The Bureau Chief of Geo News
Islamabad, Rana Jawad said that he had a talk with Mir after being attacked and
Mir said that the muggers were following him and continued to hit fire at the
car. The driver of the car said to Geo News that one of the four attackers had
opened fire and targeted the senior journalist.
