Fossils Of World's Largest Dinosaur 'Titanosaur' Found In Argentina

Fossilized remains of a Titanosaur has been unearthed by Paleontologists in Argentina's Patagonia region. Titanosaur is supposed as a dinosaur which may have been the largest dinosaur ever on earth.


Titanosaurs were long necked and long tailed sauropod they lived during the Cretaceous Period, approximately 95 million years ago who walked on four legs.

Paleontologist’s team led by Dr. Jose Luis Carballido and Dr. Diego Pol of Egidio Feruglio Museum has said that it’s a Titanosaur weighed around 100 tons or equivalent weight of 14 African elephants and as long as 40 meters.

In a statement, they also said that these are true paleontological treasure and there are many remains which were practically intact, something that does not happen commonly.


The bones of Titanosaur were among 200 fossils which were found at the site in Patagonia's Chubut province which is approximately 800 miles south of Buenos Aires. This fossil site was accidentally discovered in the year 2011 by a farm worker. According to the experts, the site also has remains of 7 dinosaurs and broken teeth of carnivores among others at the site.
