Gionee Launched World’s Slimmest Smart Phone Gionee Elife S5.5

Gionee has launched the world’s slimmest smartphone, Gionee Elife S5.5 priced at Rs 22,999. In the Indian market the smartphone will be available from 27th April 2014.

The smart phone was announced in February at the Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona.

The phone comes with a sleek metal frame with a thickness of 5.5 mm and weighs around 130 grams. The 5 inch full HD Super AMOLED Plus display screen comes protected with Gorilla Glass 3.

Gionee Elife S5.5 is powered by a 1.7 GHz MediaTek MT6592 Octa Core processor with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage but lacks a microSD card slot. It has a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5 MP front camera specialized with a 95 degree ultra wide angle.

It is a single SIM phone running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS with Gionee’s Amigo UI running on top. The device comes with a 2,300 mAh battery.

In terms of connectivity Gionee S5.5 comes with 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and GPS. Colour options of the phone are Black, White, Blue, Purple and Pink.

The phone is launched in China at 2,299 RMB which would cost around Rs 23,000 in India.

The phone company said that in 2013 they shipped 24 million phones of which 1 million phones were shipped to India. This time they have set a target of shipping 35 million units worldwide and 6 million phones in India.

Before the launch of this smart phone the slimmest smart phone in the world was Vivo X3 which is 5.75 mm in thickness.
